The Heirloom Portrait  Experience

They Change a Little Every Day.

Let's Hold Onto Who They Are Right Now.

There comes a day when the baby cheeks start to disappear.

The gap-toothed grin is replaced by grown-up teeth. The hand that once reached for yours now swings confidently by their side.

It happens slowly, and then all at once.

As moms, we spend so much time keeping up with the next stage that we hardly notice the little things slipping away—the swirl of hair at the nape of their neck, the way they scrunch their nose when they laugh, the curious look they give when they're figuring something out.

Heritage Portraits are a way to pause for a moment and preserve exactly who your child is right now.

Not with trendy props or forced smiles, but with simple, classic portraits that keep the focus where it belongs—on their features, their expressions, and the little details that make them uniquely them.

These portraits become more than artwork on your walls.

Years from now, they'll remind you of the child who climbed into your lap for one more story, who couldn't stop giggling during dinner, and who seemed to grow an inch overnight.

Because childhood doesn't stand still.

But a portrait can help you remember what it looked like while it was here.

Meet Andrea's family

A Granger, Indiana photographer with deep roots in American & Michiana history.

You're looking at portraits of my mom, Mary McKie, my grandmother, Patricia DeBoer, and my 2x great-grandmother, Rosa Campbell. Today, they're framed on the wall in my upstairs hallway, and I smile every time I walk by them.

There is something about this style of portrait that I can't get enough of. I love the simplicity. There are no distractions—just the person, exactly as they were in that season of life.

These portraits have outlived trends, homes, and even generations. They're a daily reminder of the women who came before me, and they inspire me to create the same kind of artwork for the families I photograph today. Because one day, I hope your children and grandchildren will walk past your portraits and feel that same connection.

Things You Might Be Wondering

What are "heirloom portraits"? An heirloom portrait is a timeless portrait that celebrates your child just as they are in this season of life. With the focus entirely on them—not the distractions around them—it becomes a lasting reminder of who they were, not just what they looked like.

What age is best for an heirloom portrait? Children who are able to sit independently (typically around 6–9 months) through the teen years photograph beautifully. Many families return each year to create a timeless collection as their children grow.

Can siblings be photographed together? Yes! While the focus is on individual portraits, siblings are welcome to share a few portraits together as well. If we're only shooting one picture of all the siblings together, there's no need to pay anything additionally. However, if you'd like for all of the children to be photographed individually, each one can be included for an additional $75. We can fit approximately 3 children if every session block. If you have more than 3 children, we'll simply need to reserve more than one session block, ideally back to back.

What should my child wear? Simple is always best. Solid colors, timeless styles, and minimal patterns allow the focus to remain where it belongs—on your child. For younger boys, I suggest the Peter Pan collar. For older boys, a typical white dress shirt is great. The studio has a client closet of Feltman Brothers girl dresses and boy outfits in sizes 18mo to 6Y. When booking, you'll have a chance to see what's in the client closet and in what size. Should you prefer a style that isn't available in the studio in the size that you need, I am happy to order it and add it to our collection. Do you have a family heirloom outfit? Maybe something that you yourself wore in a similar picture when you were a kid? That's perfect! You are welcome to as many outfit changes as time permits.

How long is the session? Most heirloom portrait sessions last about 15–30 minutes, making them a relaxed and enjoyable experience for little ones. We schedule 45 minutes so that there's a comfortable amount of margin for arriving and changing.

How are Heirloom Portraits delivered? They are delivered as high-quality prints and wall art for lasting preservation.

Do you offer digital images? Each product comes with it's matching digital image(s) complimentary.

How much should I expect to invest? Every family is different. Most invest $600 - $5000.

Can I add portraits every year? Absolutely! Many families choose to photograph their children each year, creating a beautiful collection that documents the fleeting years of childhood one portrait at a time. I offer a Folio Box that I call the "Grow with Me" Box. It comes with 10 matted portraits and can fit as many as 30. This is a beautiful option when wanting to add to a collection every year.

What if my child doesn't cooperate? Don't worry—that's my job. I work at your child's pace, keeping the experience relaxed and playful. Some of the most treasured portraits happen in the quiet moments between the smiles. If we just can't get anything that we're happy with - we can reschedule for no additional fee.

Can my child bring something special? Absolutely. While heirloom portraits are intentionally simple, a favorite stuffed animal, beloved book, or meaningful keepsake can sometimes be incorporated to help tell your child's story in a subtle, timeless way.

Where do sessions take place? Heirloom portrait sessions take place in my Bremen, Indiana studio, where the lighting and environment are carefully designed to create timeless artwork. When looking on a map app, such as Google Maps, you'll find me at the "Bremen Arts Collective".

How do I book? Simply fill out the inquiry form, and I'll be in touch to answer your questions and help you choose a session date that works best for your family.
